In the Military-Patriotic Park of Culture and Leisure of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation “Patriot” on March 20, 2021, the Russian Championship in Downhill Skating was held on the world’s first permanent track.

In the entire history of the existence of downhill ice skating, up to this moment, not a single training base existed in any country in the world. All projects previously proposed in other states were not implemented. The first stationary training track appeared in the Patriot Park of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

This is one of the longest tracks in the world. Its length is 500 meters, and the height of the start ramp is comparable to the height of an eight-story building. The creators, under the supervision of the Russian Federation of Downhill Skating, were able to integrate most of the existing elements into its configuration: a ramp, a 180-degree turn, a “table”, waves, a “flybox”.

About 40 extreme sportsmen fought for victory on the ice descent. Competitors overcame various obstacles such as ice turns, jumps, waves and bumps at speeds up to 80 km / h. Competitions were held in the female and male categories.

The national championship has become a good opportunity to make themselves known to novice athletes. As a result of the competition, the participants who won prizes, the leadership of the Russian Downhill Skating Federation provided quotas for participation in the final of the 2020-2021 World Championship, which will be held on April 3, 2021 in the Patriot Park.
