Military chefs of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District (YuVO), stationed in the North Caucasus and Transcaucasia, compete in cooking as part of the second stage of the ARMI-2021 field training competition “Field Kitchen” in North Ossetia.

At the competition, culinary specialists demonstrated their professional skills in preparing a free menu in the dining room of the motorized rifle unit of the Southern Military District. Bakery experts prepared dough and baked Ossetian pies, sweet rolls and over 200 loaves of bread. The jury of the competition appreciated not only the cooking technique, but also the taste and aesthetic qualities of the prepared dishes.

The next stage of the competition will be field cooking. At the Shalkhi training ground, the contestants will cook borscht, boiled meat and rice porridge, the chiefs of the food service will cook Leningradsky pickle and buckwheat with meat, and in car kitchens, pea soup and a second. Military bakers will bake bread on a trailed bakery block PCB-04 and a bakery oven KhP-04.

In addition to cooking, specialists from the food service of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District will perform control firing exercises from an AK-74 submachine gun and a PM pistol.

The competition is attended by teams of formations and military units of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District, stationed in the republics of North Ossetia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria and South Ossetia. In total, there are 8 teams with a total strength of about 50 servicemen, including chiefs of food services of military units.

The winners of the competition will represent the team of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District at the district stage of the “Field Kitchen” competition.
