Today, Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu checked the combat training and infrastructure of the motorized rifle (mountain) brigade of the Central Military District, stationed in Kyzyl. The Minister visited the training ground of the 55th Karaa-Khaak Motorized Rifle Brigade, where he heard a report by the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin on combat training and the arrival of modern weapons and military equipment in the brigade.
Also, the head of the military department got acquainted with the course of the combat training of the unit. In particular, the minister was shown training in the conduct of hostilities in the city, the work of sniper pairs from various types of rifles, the use of armored vehicles “Tiger” and mortars in the arsenal of the brigade.
In addition, Sergei Shoigu checked the educational and material base of the modernized Karaa-Khaak mountain range. At present, the construction of a new tactical training field and a mountain training complex with a climbing wall has been completed at the training ground.
At the location of the union, the minister inspected the personnel barracks, the new medical center of the union, which will begin work shortly. The general also checked the progress of the construction of the stationary communications center of the 55th brigade.
Earlier, on the territory of the military camp, five residential buildings for military personnel with 480 apartments, five two-storey cottages, as well as a new kindergarten for 200 places were built.
The 55th Motorized Rifle Brigade was formed in 2014 and is the only mountain unit based beyond the Urals. The brigade is armed with special-purpose armored vehicles “Tigr-M SpN”, self-propelled guns “Nona-SVK”, cross-country vehicles “Ural”, as well as other modern weapons, military and special equipment.
