The paratroopers of the Ivanovo Guards airborne formation took part in a tactical flight exercise (LTU) of the Center for Combat Use and Retraining of Military Transport Aviation (Ivanovo), during which more than 1,500 paratroopers were parachuted to the Budikhino landing site in the Kostroma region, 6 BMD-2K-AU airborne combat vehicles and 3 P-7 parachute platforms with ammunition for airborne artillery, weighing 6 tons each.

Early in the morning, seven Il-76md aircraft with personnel, combat vehicles and cargo platforms on board took off one after another from the Ivanovo-Severny airfield.

About half an hour after takeoff, the planes, having covered the distance over the Ivanovskaya, Kirovskaya and Kostroma regions, the aircraft entered a combat course over the Budikhino landing site.

The first, from a height of 2000 meters, on the special-purpose parachute systems “Arbalet-2”, was the company of the special forces of the reconnaissance battalion of the formation, which, after landing, conducted additional reconnaissance of the area in order to determine the possibility of landing military equipment, cargo and personnel.

15 minutes later, three Il-76md aircraft parachuted 6 units of BMD-2K-AU airborne combat vehicles, with a total weight of about 7 tons each, and three P-7 cargo platforms with ammunition for the self-propelled artillery and howitzer battalion of the guards artillery regiment of the formation.

Following the technique, more than 1,500 paratroopers of the compound were parachuted on the D-10 parachute systems, allowing personnel in gear, with weapons and equipment, with a total weight of more than 140 kilograms, with a separation interval of 0.7 seconds.

Summing up the results of the landing, the deputy commander of the Ivanovo Guards airborne formation – the head of the airborne service of the guard, Colonel Alexander Veremey noted that the landing took place without incident, all the systems, components and assemblies of the airborne equipment worked in normal mode, which made it possible to complete the “Winged infantry” task.
