It will open at the intersection of Marshal Zhukov Avenue with Narodniy Opolcheniya Street.
In the project “Active Citizen” voting started for the name of one of the stations of the Big Circle Line (BCL) metro. We are talking about the station, which will open at the intersection of Marshal Zhukov Avenue with Narodnogo Opolcheniya Street in the Khoroshevo-Mnevniki area.
At different stages of the project’s implementation, two versions of its name were considered: “Karamyshevskaya” and “People’s Militia” The first is associated with the Karamyshevsky line of defense of Moscow in 1941, which was defended by the 3rd Moscow communist rifle division of the people’s militia. In turn, the Karamyshevsky line is named after the village of Karamyshevo, which had been located here since the end of the 15th century and became part of Moscow. In this area there are also Karamyshevskaya embankment and Karamyshevsky passage.
The name “People’s Militia” is associated with the memory of the Moscow people’s militia. The station’s design is dedicated to the people’s militia of 1612, 1812 and 1941. In addition, not far from the metro station, there is a monument to the heroes of the militia, as well as Narodnogo Opolcheniya street.
The Big Circle Metro Line is the largest project in the history of metro construction in Russia and one of the largest in the world. The first section – five stations – was opened in the winter of 2018.
The Big Circle Line will be 70 kilometers long, it will have 31 stations, and the line will be serviced by two depots. BCL will unload the existing stations inside the ring, as well as the Ring line of the subway. The stations are being opened in stages.
From the BCL stations, it will be possible to make 22 transfers to other metro lines, the Moscow Central Ring, Moscow Central Diameters, as well as railway lines. The largest transport hubs of the Big Circle Line will be Delovoy Tsentr, Savelovskaya, Nizhegorodskaya, Ulitsa Novatorov and a number of others.
The Active Citizen project appeared in 2014. It is implemented by the Department of Information Technologies of the city of Moscow and the State Institution “New Management Technologies”. During this time, more than 4.9 million people have joined it, almost two million of them – last year alone. Participants determine the streets and courtyards that need to be put in order, decide how city polyclinics, libraries, multifunctional centers should work, and also choose events for festivals and celebrations.
Since the launch of the project, Muscovites have taken part in more than 4.8 thousand votes, which have collected over 155 million opinions. The decisions taken by the majority are being implemented. What has appeared in Moscow or has changed thanks to the voting in the project, you can see on the online map… In total, more than 1.6 thousand objects have been applied to the scheme.
The heading “Pulse of the Capital” reflects the changes that have occurred in Moscow, they are offered to be assessed in a game format. For example, using emoticons, you can vote for the comfort of new metro trains, the convenience of paying for housing and communal services, and much more. And at the end of last year, Muscovites had the opportunity to send the points accumulated in the project to charity.
