The roof of the apartment building of the “Partnership of Petrovsky Trading Lines in Moscow” and the house-city designed by architect Arkady Mordvinov and engineer Pavel Krasilnikov on Tverskaya Street will be put in order.
In the Tverskoy district of Moscow, the roofs of two historic buildings will be repaired this year. Work in residential buildings, which are objects of cultural heritage, will take place within the framework of a large-scale regional overhaul programs… Experts will tidy up the roof of the apartment building of the Partnership of Petrovsky Trading Lines in Moscow at 20/1 Petrovka Street. It was built according to the project of the architect Boris Freudenberg in 1917 and forms a single architectural composition with house 18. The buildings are mirrored opposite each other. Initially, the lower floors were rented out for shops, and above were apartments and hotel rooms. Over the years, great scientists lived here – Sophia and Vladimir Kovalevsky, as well as Alexander Stoletov, Kliment Timiryazev, Vladimir Taneev.
Another object is a historical building at 6 Tverskaya Street, buildings 1 and 5. The house-city designed by architect Arkady Mordvinov and engineer Pavel Krasilnikov was built in 1937–39 and was awarded the Stalin Prize. The building was built in classical style, it is symmetrically divided into three parts. The central part with a massive arch opens the entrance to the courtyard, where you can see the house of the Savvinsky courtyard, preserved from the former Tverskaya Street. Giant plaster sculptures were installed over the arch on the roof of the building.
Soviet pilot Stepan Suprun, actor and director Boris Livanov, poet, translator, literary critic, children’s writer Korney Chukovsky lived here.
In these houses, specialists will change the covering of the pitched roof, repair the drainage system. When repairing a roof, the entire old coating is dismantled, after which a new roof is made and fences are installed. All work is carried out in strict accordance with applicable building codes and regulations.
Where it is provided by the design documentation, the attic floor will be insulated. This will restore the temperature and humidity conditions of the attic space, which will increase the energy efficiency of the building as a whole. For this, mineral wool slabs are used. If necessary, the battens, rafters and mauerlat are changed, all wooden structures are treated with fire-retardant compounds, hatches and exits to the attic and the roof are renewed.
Only contractors with special licenses from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation are allowed to work on historical sites. In the process of overhaul, the building is regularly checked by specialists Department of Cultural Heritage of the City of Moscow… Operational, intermediate and acceptance monitoring is carried out by construction control staff.
In total, more than 2.5 thousand houses will be overhauled in the capital this year. Also, more than three thousand elevators will be replaced and over 1300 roofs will be repaired.
