Servicemen of the anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Central Military District (CVD) performed the first combat launches after being rearmed with the new S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) during the main stage of the exercise at the Ashuluk training ground in the Astrakhan region.

The combat crews of the S-400 air defense missile systems, as part of the exercise, destroyed the air attack weapons of the simulated enemy. Two modifications of high-altitude and low-altitude high-speed super-maneuverable missiles “Armavir” were used as air targets. The flight of a ballistic target at a speed of over 1000 meters per second and at an altitude of more than 10 kilometers was imitated by the boar target rocket. The target systems used allowed the combat crews of the S-400 Triumph air defense system to work out countering modern and promising air attack weapons.

Before combat use, the servicemen of the anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Central Military District worked out the fulfillment of the standards for loading launchers, made a combined march with a length of about 2,000 kilometers and took up combat duty in the new positional area.

The tactical live-fire exercise will continue until mid-April. More than 300 servicemen take part in the combat training event, about 100 units of military and special equipment are involved.
