At the first stage of the open All-Russian Photo Contest “Lighthouses of Russia-2021”, the activity of participants is noted, sending their photographs to the commission for consideration. The organizer of the open all-Russian competition of photographs “Lighthouses of Russia-2021” is the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, represented by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. The co-organizer of the Competition is the All-Russian Public Organization “Russian Geographical Society”.

The regulation on the Contest was approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.

The objectives of the Competition are: to draw attention to the history of the development of lighthouse business in Russia, foster respect for the cultural and historical heritage of the native land and the need to preserve them, foster patriotism through the art of photography, identify and support talented authors working in the genre of artistic and documentary photography.

Citizens of Russia can take part in the Competition, regardless of age, gender, place of residence, occupation and hobbies, including non-professional photographers (the interests of minor participants in the Competition are represented by their legal representatives).

The competition is held in three stages:

– the first stage (acceptance of works) from September 1, 2020 to August 1, 2021;

– the second stage (preliminary selection) from August 2 to September 10, 2021;

– the third stage (final of the Competition) from 11 to 24 September 2021

Works are submitted to the Competition in the category:

– “Shrines of the Seas” – showing the lighthouses of Russia and / or revealing the historical aspects of the creation of the Lighthouse Service of Russia;

– “Lighthouse keepers” – showing the work and life of lighthouses.

The choice of the nomination in which the photograph submitted to the Competition participates is made by the participant of the Competition, while the work must correspond to the theme of the nomination. The regulations on the Contest are published on the website of the RF Ministry of Defense and the Russian Geographical Society.

Simultaneously with the holding of the Competition, the exhibition “Lighthouses of Russia” began its work in the Kaliningrad branch of the All-Russian Scientific Center of the Navy “Naval Academy”. The exposition in the library of the branch presents more than 30 large-format images of lighthouses, which allows guests to virtually “visit” the lighthouses located in the Leningrad, Kaliningrad regions and St. Petersburg. The purpose of the exhibition is to study and popularize the lighthouse business.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, the inspector of the group of inspectors of the All-Russian Scientific Center of the Navy “Naval Academy” Rear Admiral Alexander Tsurkan emphasized the importance of studying and preserving lighthouses as objects of maritime heritage.

Over the three weeks of the exhibition, it was visited by more than 350 officers, cadets and civilian personnel of the branch, many of whom noted with interest the expressiveness and artistry of photographs with lighthouse subjects.
