Every year the Ministry of Culture and the Russian Union of Writers hold a competition for the “Poet of the Year” award, in which hundreds of thousands of people from all over Russia take part. The event is held with the aim of finding talented authors who can contribute to the development of Russian culture.

He also found his talent at the Military Academy of Logistics named after General of the Army A.V. Khrulev. Cadet of the Faculty (Railway Troops) Marat Mikheev took part in the competition.

Of all the laureates and finalists of the competition, Marat Mikheev was the only serviceman, thus representing not only the Military Academy of the Ministry of Defense and Defense, but also the Armed Forces of Russia as a whole.

This year the competition was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Russian writer and poet Ivan Bunin. The competition was held in several stages. At the first stage, the competition committee reviewed all the works and the best of them were included in the collections. Further, the collections were considered by the Grand Jury, choosing the laureates and finalists of the award. The Grand Jury consisted of famous cultural figures, poets and prose writers.

The award ceremony took place in the Moscow Government Concert Hall. The Bunin Medal was presented to the winner by the President of the Russian Writers’ Union Dmitry Kravchuk.

Marat Mikheev submitted his works to the competition – “Friendship” and “A little boy with empty eyes.” The latter touches on a deep problem and tells the story of children growing up in orphanages. In his work, Marat Mikheev is inspired by cult Russian poets and writers – Mikhail Lermontov and Sergei Yesenin.

Now Marat Mikheev plans to publish a collection of his works to share with each student of his institute.
