At the Raevsky training ground of the Novorossiysk Guards Airborne Assault Mountain Formation, the main stage of the Airborne Forces’ Army Tactical Shooting Championship “Tactical Shooter” is being held as part of the International Army Games-2021.

During the main stage, which will last three days, participants must perform exercises that simulate various types of combat:

– a battle in a building where you need to hit different targets set behind obstacles. The exercise is complicated by the fact that none of the participants knows the location of the targets and acts in accordance with the situation;

– a fight in the woods, in which the participant destroys targets from a machine gun and a pistol, moving from cover to cover;

– fight on the landing site. This exercise is complicated by the fact that the participant is shooting at targets while in the parachute harness attached to the slipway. This simulates a parachute descent.

Another exercise is freeing an injured hostage. A feature of the exercise is that during its execution, the participants dismount from the car body, take up firing positions and, acting as part of a group of four people, destroy targets and evacuate a conditionally wounded from the battlefield. Two participants evacuate the wounded hostage on a stretcher, while the rest cover the group’s retreat. In addition, the complexity of the exercise lies in the fact that the wounded man is imitated by a full-size dummy weighing about 86 kg and must be evacuated from the battlefield as quickly as possible.

An ambush fight is conducted by two participants in a car. One fires at targets from the car window, the second, leaving the car, performs shooting from a prone position. Then the participants alternately move to the shelter, from which they destroy the remaining targets.

Evaluation of the exercise is carried out on the basis of time indicators, shooting accuracy, compliance with safety requirements.

The tournament is held according to the rules of a new military-applied sport – army tactical and shooting all-around, which includes fire training, elements of hand-to-hand combat, first aid to the wounded, throwing a knife and a sapper blade, as well as solving tactical problems.

More than 120 servicemen, consisting of 12 teams, representing all formations, military units and institutions of the Airborne Forces from Ussuriysk to Novorossiysk, take part in the competition.

The team that won the qualifying stage will represent the “winged infantry” at the all-army stage of the competition, which will be held in May this year.
