At the Yunost cinema, viewers will see the pictures of the Spanish film master, filmed over 10 years. Screenings will run from April 3 to April 17.

The Moschino cinemas chain invites you to get acquainted with the work of the famous Spanish director Pedro Almodovar or discover it from a new angle. Pictures made by the filmmaker from 2009 to 2019 will be shown on the big screen. In the program “Open Embrace”, “The Skin I Live In”, “Juliet”, “Pain and Glory”. The screenings will take place from 3 to 17 April at the Yunost cinema of the Moschino network.

The first screening will take place on April 3. At 20:30, the drama Opened Embraces (2009) will be shown, in which the permanent muse of the director Penelope Cruz played. A passionate and tragic love story will appear before the audience. Screenwriter Mateo Blanco (Luis Omar) lost his eyesight and his beloved actress Lena 14 years ago in a terrible car accident. Now he is cared for by his longtime girlfriend Judith and her son Diego. He tells him the story of a love quadrangle, which ended in disaster. The film will be presented by Tatyana Pigareva, Ph.D. in Philology, art critic, head of the culture department of the Cervantes Institute in Moscow.

On April 10 at 21:00 viewers will see the psychological thriller “The Skin I Live In” (2011) about a talented plastic surgeon (Antonio Banderas), who, after a tragedy in his family, decides on a shocking experiment. For this, in his country house, he keeps a young woman (Elena Anaya) in captivity, whom he hides from everyone.

On April 14 at 21:30 you will be able to see the painting “Juliet” (2016). The story of Juliet (Emma Suarez), who has not seen her daughter Anthia for 12 years, will unfold on the big screen. She ran away from home at the age of 18. When the mother finds out that Anthia was seen in Italy, she breaks up with her lover and again rents an apartment in the house where she once lived with her daughter.

The program will end with a screening of Pedro Almodovar’s most personal, partly autobiographical film Pain and Glory (2019). You can see the picture on April 17 at 21:00. The main character of the film, the talented filmmaker Salvador Milo (Antonio Banderas), is experiencing a creative crisis. He begins to remember his past – childhood, beloved mother, first love and parting with her.

Pedro Almodovar is a Spanish film director, producer and screenwriter. He was born on September 25, 1949 in Spain. Almodovar made his first full-length film in 1980. The painting was called Pepi, Lucy, Bom and the rest of the girls.

The eccentric comedy Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown in 1988 brought the director worldwide recognition. In 1999, he released All About My Mother, which won him an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

The Moschino cinema network annually holds retrospectives, auteur cinema festivals, film clubs and meetings with directors. Special attention is paid to film screenings. In addition, “Moschino” is the curator and organizer of the citywide action “Cinema Night”.
