During blasting operations on the Sim River in the Chelyabinsk Region, sappers from the Central Military District (CVO) cleared more than 3,000 square meters of ice.

For the most effective detonation, the charges were laid under the ice, the thickness of which was from 70 to 90 cm. The work was carried out on the blockage-prone sections of the river in order to exclude the flooding of the Ashinsky urban settlement with a population of about 30 thousand people. More than 400 kg were used in total. explosives.

The decision to carry out the work was made by the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, at the request of the local authorities.

In the Central Military District, more than 30 subversive teams from the engineer-sapper units have been trained to deal with floods. They are ready to assist in conducting engineering reconnaissance, eliminating ice jams, protecting bridges and hydraulic structures, and rescuing people in case of floods.

In the regional control center of the Central Military District, there is a working group that monitors and makes forecasts for the most flood-prone areas around the clock for timely maneuvering of forces and means.
