In the project “Active Citizen” ended vote, whose participants chose the name of one of the stations of the Big Circle Line (BCL) metro. It will open at the intersection of Marshal Zhukov Avenue with Narodnogo Opolcheniya Street in the Khoroshevo-Mnevniki area.

The “People’s Militia” option became the leader of the vote. He was chosen by 55.02 percent of the participants. 35.93 percent of respondents voted for the option “Karamyshevskaya”. Another 9.05 percent of “active citizens” believed that the issue should be resolved by specialists. A total of 112,960 people took part in the voting.

The Big Circle Metro Line is the largest project in the history of metro construction in Russia and one of the largest in the world. The BCL will be 70 kilometers long and will have 31 stations. It will unload existing stations inside the ring, as well as the Ring line of the subway.

Now 10 stations of the Big Circle Line are open for passengers. The traffic on the first section was launched in February 2018: Delovoy Tsentr, Shelepikha, Khoroshevskaya, CSKA and Petrovsky Park stations were opened in the north-west of Moscow. At the end of the same year, another station appeared – “Savelovskaya”. In March 2020, passengers were received by Lefortovo, Aviamotornaya and Nizhegorodskaya, in December – by Electrozavodskaya. In 2021, it is planned to open 11 more BCL stations.

Project “Active citizen” appeared in 2014. During this time, more than 4.9 million people have joined it, almost two million of them last year alone. Participants determine the streets and courtyards that need to be put in order, decide how city polyclinics, libraries, multifunctional centers should work, and also choose events for festivals and celebrations.
