Russian military instructors of the 201st military base completed the training of the first group of 500 junior specialists of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan during the winter training period.

The training of military personnel took place in 14 military specialties: driver and operator of the T-72 tank, commander of the BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system, gunner of the Gvozdika self-propelled artillery gun, gunner of the BTR-80 armored personnel carrier, gunner-operator of an infantry combat vehicle BMP-2, also a scout, grenade launcher and others. The course of training for foreign specialists lasted two months and ended with an exam, which was divided into two parts: on knowledge of the theory and the performance of control firing exercises from the standard weapons of combat vehicles, small arms and grenade launchers.

The second part of junior specialists, which will include another 500 military personnel, will undergo training already in the summer training period. A total of 1,000 servicemen will be trained in military specialties by the end of this year. Training courses for junior specialists of the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan have been annually held in the winter and summer periods of training at the Lyaur and Sambuli training complexes since 2015.

The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside its borders. Located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
