Sappers of the Southern Military District (YuVO) destroyed a large cache of ammunition during the Great Patriotic War in the Rostov region.

The shells were found near the village of Sredny Chir, Rostov Region.

The servicemen of the engineering-sapper group, who arrived at the scene, examined the area, identified and removed 353 artillery shells from the times of the Great Patriotic War, 37-mm caliber. The total mass of ammunition found was more than 300 kg.

According to experts, most of the ammunition retained its dangerous potential and posed a threat of self-detonation. Specialists of the demining group removed and transported explosive objects to the landfill, where they destroyed them by detonating them with an overhead charge.
