A monument dedicated to the former head of the educational institution, Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General Yuri Viktorovich Kuznetsov, will appear in the park next to the Far Eastern Higher Combined Arms Command School.

The design of the monument depicts the full-length figure of Yuri Kuznetsov. Before the final approval of the project, a 3D model will be created, which will help to coordinate it with relatives. The square in which the monument will be erected also bears the name of the major general.

The life of Yuri Kuznetsov was inextricably linked with DVOKU. From 1964 to 1968 he studied at the school, and from 1993 to 2002 he was its head.

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to Yuri Kuznetsov in 1982 for the skillful command of the regiment, courage and heroism shown in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Gold Star Medal, the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star, the Order For Service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR, II, III degrees, the Order for Military Merit, the Order of Honor, the Order of Labor Valor, Order “For Merit in the Veteran Movement”, was an Honorary Resident of the city of Blagoveshchensk.

After leaving military service, Yuri Viktorovich continued to be active. He attended all significant events at the school, giving parting words to future officers. He was engaged in military-patriotic education of youth. Since 2014, he has been a deputy of the City Duma.
