At the Prudboy training ground of the Southern Military District (YuVO), the district stage of one of the most spectacular field training competitions “Tank Biathlon” has solemnly ended.
About 100 servicemen of the Southern Military District, representing the Rostov and Volgograd regions, the Stavropol Territory, the Crimea and the republics of the North Caucasus, took part in the competitive battles, which took place during the week.
The participants of the competition overcame three stages of the competition: an individual race, a sports stage and a relay race. In addition to the heavy obstacles equipped on the track, the tankers also struggled with weather conditions. Rain, snow and hail during the competition forced the driver mechanics to show true skill during the distance, and they demanded additional attention from the gunners during the shooting exercises.
Who will get the first place on the podium was determined during the relay held on the last day of the competition. According to the results of the district stage of the competition, the tank platoon of Senior Lieutenant Kirill Hranov, representing the 8th Combined Arms Army, became the best. The second place in the “Tank Biathlon” competition was taken by the team of the 58th Combined Arms Army, and the top three were the tankers of the 49th Combined Arms Army.
Also, the most distinguished servicemen were awarded in the nominations: “Best driver-mechanic”, “Best gunner-operator” and “For the will to win.”
In addition, for the first time, crews of T-90 tanks entered the track of the Tank Biathlon competition. For them, a separate classification was created, in which the team of the 8th Combined Arms Army under the command of Lieutenant Dmitry Omelchenko won.
In total, the competition was attended by more than 1,000 residents of the Volgograd region, as well as more than 400 pupils of the All-Russian children’s and youth military-patriotic social movement – Yunarmiya.
