At the Military Engineering and Technical Institute of the Military Academy of MTO, one of the most ancient holidays on Earth was celebrated – the International holiday of the spring equinox, the renewal of nature and man – Navruz.

The event was organized by the Department of Humanities with the assistance of the Special Faculty of the Military Engineering and Technical Institute.

In the multinational collective of cadets of the Military Institute, a tradition has developed to jointly celebrate various national and confessional holidays. Navruz, traditionally, is widely celebrated at the institute, as befits a real holiday. There were contests and quizzes, songs and jokes, festive mood, national costumes and national cuisine, represented by exotic dishes, which can only be tasted during the main national holidays. The ancient and always young Navruz was able to unite cadets of different nationalities. For those who took part in the holiday and preparations for it, he aroused a sense of pride in their culture and a keen interest in the traditions of other peoples.

The holiday began with the cadets of the national groups of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan telling about their folk traditions of Navruz. They recalled the customs of Russian spring holidays: Russian Maslenitsa, Bashkir Sabantui, Tuvan Shagaa. Traditional throat singing was performed by a cadet from Tuva. The exciting quiz “Spring Holidays of the Nations of the World” aroused keen interest and excitement among the participants of the event.

The final part of the holiday was especially welcome. The guests were invited to an international festive table. On it, Russian pancakes were side by side with Abkhaz pies, Tajik sambus and pilaf. The oriental food was especially delicious. Sprouted wheat grains – a symbol of the Navruz holiday – became the decoration of the table.

For reference:

Translated from Farsi, Navruz means “new day”: this is the New Year according to the ancient Eastern calendar. The holiday, rooted in the traditions of the ancient farmers of the Middle East and Central Asia, has become today an integral part of the culture of many peoples professing Islam. This is one of the main national holidays of the peoples of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,

Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Iran. Since 2009, Navruz has been included in the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and declared an International Day as a cultural tradition that contributes to the strengthening of friendly ties between peoples.
