During the existence of the action, more than 23 thousand new volunteers have joined it.
In the early days of the pandemic, volunteers helped doctors, accepted applications at call centers, and delivered food and medicine to Muscovites’ homes. During the existence of the action, more than 23 thousand unique volunteers (people who have never participated in volunteer activities before) have joined it. With their help, 48 thousand applications were completed.
“The pandemic has become an indicative stress test – a serious test of the strength of all parts of our society. And in many ways we have withstood this stress and test. This happened thanks to the adequate decisions of the city leadership, the dedication of doctors, the willingness to help the volunteer community of Moscow, the resilience of the business community and, of course, the patience and discipline of our citizens, – noted Ekaterina Dragunova, chairman Committee for public relations and youth policy of the city of Moscow… “The main conclusion of the pandemic is that we, as before, are ready to unite in the face of the threat, once again showing that Moscow is the capital of goodness and the city of those who are not indifferent.”
Before the execution of the applications, all volunteers underwent distance learning and briefing at the headquarters. Before work, they had their temperature measured and provided with the necessary personal protective equipment. For 2020 and 2021, participants of the #WeTogether campaign used 115 thousand pairs of gloves and 240 thousand masks. During the year of the good marathon, volunteers delivered 82.25 tons of food, 52 054.75 liters of water, 54 683 packs of medicines and 1.3 tons of pet food.
More than 420 organizations took part in the action: philanthropists and entrepreneurs, business representatives.
The action brought together people of various hobbies, professions, and ages. The city assistants were joined by students, actors and entrepreneurs. The largest number of closed orders for the day was filled by Dmitry Bazhenov. He covered about 200 kilometers and took 23 thousand steps to complete 15 conversions.
The most difficult one-time bid was fulfilled by Andrey Afanasyev. He delivered 80 kilograms of food for a large family with a disabled mother.
The all-Russian action of mutual assistance is being transformed into a permanent project – the club “We are together”. Older Muscovites will continue to help within the framework of one of the club’s directions – “We are together: with care”. For elderly citizens and veterans who need permanent or temporary outside help, volunteers will be assigned.
On December 8 last year, the first meeting of the club members took place. It was joined by representatives of the executive authorities, All-Russian public organizations, NGOs, business and the main partners of the #WeVremeste mutual assistance campaign.
The association will train volunteers to provide support in case of emergencies and the distribution of humanitarian aid in disaster areas. During the discussions, the participants came to the conclusion that it is necessary to develop one more area – psychological assistance.
