The crews of the Volkhov and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky diesel-electric submarines have started to implement the elements of the L-2 course task at the sea ranges of the Baltic Fleet. As part of the training program, submariners will improve their skills in the independent performance of a single ship in combat missions at sea. Two submarines will carry out an attack on a surface ship, and then evade search groups of a simulated enemy. They will also interact with surface ships of the Baltic Fleet, which are working on elements of the K-2 mission.

At sea, combat exercises will also be held to combat the crew for the survivability of the ship, to practice the actions of combat crews with the conditional use of torpedo, mine and rocket weapons. In one of the regions of the Baltic Sea, the submarines will make a deep-sea dive, during which the submariners will check the operation of all systems and mechanisms, will train in controlling the ship at great depths and when surfacing.

B-274 Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Volkhov are Russian Project 636.3 Varshavyanka diesel-electric submarines. They are equipped with an inertial navigation system, updated in comparison with the previous submarines of the series, the latest-generation BIUS and modern missile and torpedo armament. One of the main advantages of these submarines is their low noise level.
