Beginners could join the live broadcast of speeches, take part in quizzes and video tours, and meet potential employers in person.
About three thousand senior students and graduates of the capital’s universities took part in the Intern Picnic project, which took place at the University of the Moscow Government. The guests of the event were able to personally communicate with potential employers, learn about the specifics of the work of Moscow departments and receive important advice for career development.
This year the event was held in a hybrid format. Participants could attend in person or join the program online. Thus, the organizers prepared a live broadcast of the performances, conducted quizzes and video tours of city organizations. And on the main stage of the “Intern Picnic” the heads of the capital’s departments performed.
“You will work in projects that you cannot get into just like that. Begin to understand how decisions are made and what influences them. Our entire selection process is focused on one goal – to unleash your potential. Our experts can reveal those strengths in you that you yourself did not know about, “said the head of the Department of Civil Service and Human Resources of the Moscow Government.
Personal experience and valuable guidance
The goal of the project is to find motivated and talented young people who can get an internship in city institutions. The project managers shared their own experience with the participants, told about who they want to see as interns and what young specialists should strive for.
“Now you always have a choice. It doesn’t matter where you work – in a private company, the public sector, or become an entrepreneur. The main thing is to be active “, – said the head of the capital
First Deputy Head of the State Treasury Institution “New Management Technologies” Evgenia Kostyuchenko noted that responsible and executive employees are invited to projects such as “Active Citizen”, “Electronic House” and “City of Ideas” and assertiveness.
Workshops, quests and a test for sincerity
The “Intern Picnic” was divided into several thematic areas, at each of which new knowledge or interesting entertainment awaited the participants.
At the session “Invite to the Moscow Government”, the graduates of the internship program in the Moscow Government spoke. They shared their experience of working in the civil service, and also told how they managed to get an invitation for employment and what city projects they are currently supervising.
A master class prepared by representatives of creative agencies was held at the “Pump Yourself” site. Experts talked about how students can develop a personal brand and improve communication, presentation, negotiation skills, optimize work in social networks and learn how to properly organize working hours.
Participants of the “Intern Picnic” could also receive career advice from invited experts and go through a quest on knowing the capital. The winners received valuable prizes and an invitation to participate in the “Career School” project.
For everyone, a VR center worked at the event site, where everyone could try on the role of a real estate inspector or go on a tour of the city’s institutions. One of the novelties of this year is the test for sincerity – a polygraph test, which is passed by many of the capital’s civil servants. The young people were told how this test works and were asked to go through it themselves.
The internship program at the Moscow Government appeared in 2011. This project is aimed at recruiting students and graduates of Russian universities to work in the capital’s departments. You can find out more about the project and apply for participation on the career portal…
To acquaint Moscow students with the internship program, a project of the Moscow Government was created “Moscow team”… These are open meetings of the heads of government bodies with students of Moscow universities, at which representatives of departments acquaint participants with city projects. You can get acquainted with the project on the site.
