The pilot project is being implemented within the framework of an agreement signed between the head of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Kemerovo Region-Kuzbass, Konstantin Bereznev, and the general director of the Kuznetsk Alliance holding company, Mikhail Shkuropatsky, on the provision of jobs for people who served their sentences in penal colonies in the region.

Governor of Kuzbass Sergey Tsivilev took part in the presentation of the sewing workshop. At the new production site, 25 jobs have been created, and it is planned to produce up to 500 sets of work suits for industrial enterprises of the region in a month.

“This is an important project for Kuzbass to re-socialize women who were serving sentences in the institutions of the GUFSIN. Now they are provided with a stable paid job, which will allow them to quickly adapt to the conditions of modern life and avoid illegal relapses, ”Governor Sergei Tsivilev emphasized during a meeting with the team.

The new workshop is equipped with modern programmable sewing and cutting machines. The enterprise uses domestic raw materials. The workshop produces overalls for miners, builders, road workers, power engineers, chemists. The products have passed the required certification. Orders for costumes come not only from industrialists of Kuzbass, but also from neighboring regions. Therefore, in the near future the shop will switch to work in two shifts and reach its full production capacity – 500 sets per month. If the demand for workwear of the Kuzbass brand grows, the holding’s management is ready to create another site for production.

In turn, Konstantin Bereznev noted the importance of the initiative of the Kuzbass businessman. “For former convicts, the problem of resocialization is very acute. On the one hand, it is an opportunity to join life in a free society. On the other hand, if a person can do this fully, then the likelihood that he will become a law-abiding citizen in the future is very high. Today, according to statistics, more than half of the citizens who have repeatedly committed crimes did not have a permanent job and a stable income, so such a project will be a big step in reducing recidivism. “
