The capital’s Yunarmeys will take part in the presentation of the book “Yuri Gagarin – Cosmonaut No. 1” according to the recollections of the Soviet pilot, a participant in the rescue of the crew of the steamship “Chelyuskin”, Hero of the Soviet Union Mikhail Vodopyanov. The solemn ceremony will take place on April 10 in Yuzhny Tushino at the Salut Palace of Culture.

The participants of the meeting, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the first man’s flight into space, will be junior squads of the Aerospace Forces, veterans of the Aerospace Forces, testers of aviation and space technology, and military personnel. The guest of honor will be the chairman of the parent council of the 154th separate commandant’s Preobrazhensky regiment, the granddaughter of the Hero of the Soviet Union – Maria Vodopyanova. Within the framework of the meeting, the publishing house “Children’s Literature” will present a republished book by Mikhail Vodopyanov “Yuri Gagarin – Cosmonaut No. 1” from the series “For Children about the Great People of Russia”.

“It is very important to know your heroes, especially if we are talking about the first cosmonaut of the Earth, who became the property of world history. For Yunarmeytsy this is both new knowledge and an opportunity to get to know better the difficult profession of an astronaut. The biography of Mikhail Vodopyanov, one of the first Heroes of the Soviet Union, is also of great interest. So the guys will have a very exciting meeting, where you can ask any questions and learn a lot of interesting facts from the life of these great people, ”said Anton Kuznetsov, Deputy Chief of the UNARMIA General Staff.

At the presentation of the book, the Yunarmeys will be told about how Yuri Gagarin became the first person in world history to conquer space, what problems he faced in orbit and what he did after his flight.

Mikhail Vodopyanov – Hero of the Soviet Union, awarded four Orders of Lenin, four Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree. In 1943 he was awarded the military rank of Major General of Aviation. He was engaged in literary activities. Author of the books “Kireevs”, “Flights”, “Pilot’s Dream”, “From Plow to Plane”, “Valery Chkalov”, “Polar Pilot”, “In Ice Captivity” and others. He was a member of the Writers’ Union of the USSR.

Recall that the All-Russian youth military-patriotic movement Yunarmiya was created in 2016 at the initiative of the Ministry of Defense and with the support of the President of Russia. Now in its ranks there are more than 775,000 participants – the most daring, the most courageous, the most initiative guys. The main task of the movement is patriotic education, as well as the physical, intellectual and social development of young people.
