The first issue of the sports and entertainment magazine “Sportsman”, published in the penal colony No. 13, was published. The idea to publish the magazine by the convicts and for the convicts belongs to its editor-in-chief – the head of the sports club, the head of the IK-13 detachment, Major of the Internal Service Vitaly Fedoseev. The magazine was created as part of the circle work of the institution.

The correspondents of the magazine are convicts who are serving sentences in this correctional colony. In their articles and notes, they write mainly about sports, sports nutrition, a healthy lifestyle and about competitions and championships that are held in the institution.

“The magazine turned out to be bright, colorful, and most importantly interesting and informative. This is another type of activity that convicts can use in life after release for successful socialization. In IK-13, all convicts have the opportunity to study at a vocational educational institution and receive a diploma in many specialties that are in demand on the labor market. Of course, we do not teach journalism. But the practice of working in the publishing house of this sports magazine will give them experience that they can develop after their release, if they wish, ”said Vitaly Fedoseev, head of the IK-13 unit.

The circulation of the magazine is small – 10 copies. One of the Khabarovsk printing houses helped with the printing on a gratuitous basis as part of a charity. The main target audience of the monthly sports publication is convicts IK-13. The journals will be placed in the institution’s library so that everyone can familiarize themselves with them.
