The exposition is timed to the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space.

On Tsvetnoy and Gogolevsky boulevards, a photo exhibition “From the machine tool to the stars” was opened, dedicated to the work and achievements of the capital’s enterprises of the rocket and space industry. The exposition is timed to the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space.

“60 years ago, on April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first person to fly into space. This achievement was supported by more than one thousand people, including industrialists – engineers, designers, mechanics, scientists. The historic flight would not have taken place without their work, professionalism and talent, so it was decided to dedicate the exhibition to them. Moscow has been and remains the center of the rocket and space industry: more than 40 enterprises of the industry are located here, “said the head

Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow Alexander Prokhorov.

The exhibition was attended by over 20 industrial enterprises in the capital, which produce rockets, develop parts and electronics, and also produce food and clothing for astronauts.

Muscovites and guests of the capital will be able not only to see rare archival footage, but also to learn interesting facts from the history of the industry. For example, the research and production association “Science” for the ship Yuri Gagarin for the first time in the world has created a complex of systems that ensure life during the flight.

Employees of the All-Russian Research Institute of Aviation Materials produced aluminum and magnesium alloys, and also developed heat-resistant materials and heat-protective coatings. And the employees of the Scientific Research Institute of the Bakery Industry prepared a special bread for astronauts, the weight of which is only 4.5 grams (with a shelf life of up to 15 months).

The exhibition will run until April 29.
