Servicemen of the engineer-sapper company of the Southern Military District (YuVO) have begun clearing explosive ordnance (EOM) from agricultural land in Chechnya.

The personnel of the sapper units perform tasks in the protective suits of the OVR-2 Sokol sapper. For demining, servicemen use IMR-2 engineering vehicles, and Korshun non-contact explosive device seekers.

Demining groups of the motorized rifle unit of the 58th combined-arms army of the Southern Military District, stationed in Chechnya, as well as the crews of mine-detecting dogs were involved in clearing the area from GPs.

For reference:

The engineers of the Southern Military District began work on mine clearance and the complete cleaning of the area of Chechnya and Ingushetia from explosives in May 2012. In total, it was planned to clear about 16 thousand hectares of agricultural land and forestry, but in 9 years the military personnel surveyed about 23 thousand hectares, discovering and destroying more than 40 thousand explosive objects (mines, shells, VOG, grenades and other ammunition, as well as improvised explosive devices).
