Dmitry Chernyshenko took part in the launch of the international competition for digital solutions World AI & Data Challenge

The capital’s “Boiling Point” hosted the ceremonial launch of the third international competition for digital solutions World AI & Data Challenge, which the Agency for Strategic Initiatives is holding for the third time. During its existence, the competition has gathered more than 8 thousand participants, more than 100 solutions for implementation in the regions have been presented, 20 of which are open source. This year, participants will have to develop new solutions to socio-economic problems using artificial intelligence technologies and data analysis.

“We are all already accustomed to the fact that Russia is among the top countries that dictate the digital agenda in terms of the development of artificial intelligence. And with your help, we hope to maintain this leadership, ”said Dmitry Chernyshenko, Head of the Competition Board of Trustees, Deputy Prime Minister, at the launching ceremony. He said that in the near future the second package of measures to support the IT industry, developed by joint efforts of the Government and business, will be approved. The Deputy Prime Minister also recalled that this year, within the framework of the federal project “Artificial Intelligence”, about 6 billion rubles of budgetary funds will be invested in the creation of public datasets (data sets), support for digital startups and training. “And we will also support contests,” added Dmitry Chernyshenko.

“Our competition for digital solutions has already become international – since last year, the World Bank joined the list of partners, and among the participants there were foreign citizens, immigrants from Russia, who are not indifferent to their homeland. The global task of the competition is to find solutions on how to improve the quality of life of people using big data. More than 20 such solutions proposed at the competition are already being implemented in 40 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. There are active regions that pose interesting tasks and provide good databases. It is important to note that during the competition the quality of both tasks and data has multiplied, ”said ASI CEO Svetlana Chupsheva.

Traditionally, the AI & Data Challenge consists of three stages. First, countries, regions, communities and universities put forward problems or situations of interest to them for a competition of problems. Then the teams of developers and data analysts participate in the competition of solutions for the assigned tasks. At the final stage – a competition of implementations – task managers, together with developers, implement solutions in the regions with the support of international experts.

Over the past two years, the number of data specialists involved in the competition has grown sixfold – in 2020, more than 6.5 thousand developers from 82 regions of Russia and 26 countries took part in it. All proposed solutions are hosted on open source, and any company or state can implement the practice they like.
