The Moscow City Heritage Committee has begun to develop a restoration project.

The monument to aircraft designer Alexander Yakovlev will be restored. It was created in 1976 by sculptor Mikhail Anikushin and architect Alexander Zavarzin. The monument is an identified cultural heritage site. Now Moscow City Heritage develops a restoration project.

“April 1 marks the 115th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Soviet aircraft designer Alexander Sergeevich Yakovlev. The monument to the Colonel-General of Aviation was erected at the entrance to Chapayevsky Park near Leningradsky Prospekt. Now, by order of the Moscow City Heritage Site, a project for the restoration of the monument is being developed. After agreeing on this documentation, it will be possible to proceed directly to the conservation work. We plan that the monument will be put in order in 2022-2023. To develop scientific and project documentation, specialists will conduct bibliographic and historical archival research, as well as study all the features of the monument.

Aircraft designer Alexander Sergeevich Yakovlev is the creator of the Yak aircraft. Under his leadership, many types and modifications of aircraft were designed and produced.
