The team of the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School became the winner of the International Olympiad for cadets in a foreign language, the cadets of the Military Academy of Belarus took silver, the team of the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan closed the top three.

The awards were presented to the winners by State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Nikolai Pankov and Deputy Head of the Defense Ministry Colonel-General Alexander Fomin.

“In the modern world, knowledge of foreign languages ​​has become one of the key factors that determine not only professional success, consistency, but also the general level of education of a serviceman. It broadens the horizons and boundaries of knowledge, allows you to better know the culture and mentality of other nations, ”Nikolai Pankov said at the award ceremony.

He stressed that the importance of knowledge of foreign languages ​​for military personnel has especially increased in recent years.

“The RF Armed Forces are actively carrying out humanitarian missions abroad of our country, are widely involved in peacekeeping operations, participate in joint training, exercises and other various international events. All this makes high demands on the quality of learning foreign languages ​​in military educational institutions, ”said the deputy head of the military department.

According to him, the competitions were held in an honest and uncompromising struggle. The participants of the Olympiad demonstrated the high quality of linguistic training and the ability to solve complex non-standard problems.

Also, the Deputy Ministers of Defense of the Russian Federation presented awards in the nomination for absolute personal superiority. The best was the cadet of the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School, the second place was taken by the cadet of the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, the third – the cadet of the Military Academy of Belarus.

The Olympics were held at the Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation from March 28 to April 2. 52 teams took part in the competitive tests, including seven women.
