Tankers of the tank formation of the Eastern Military District (VVO) at the Burduny training ground fired at long ranges from a T-72B tank cannon with regular shots at emerging and moving targets as part of a tactical exercise in the Republic of Buryatia.
The aim of the lesson was shooting at long ranges up to 8 thousand meters. The difficulty lies in performing firing from a closed firing position at an unobserved target. Usually, a tank is fired with direct or semi-direct fire, when the gunner and tank commander can observe the target.
The shooting was carried out at targets simulating a tank, an attacking infantry group, a recoilless gun on a vehicle, and a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher.
At the initial stage of training with tank crews, a cycle of theoretical studies and trainings was carried out in modern classrooms with crewed dynamic tank simulators.
