On the territory of the Ulyanovsk Separate Guards Airborne Assault Formation, the opening ceremony of the Airborne Forces stage of the field training competition among snipers (sniper pairs) “Sniper Frontier”, held within the framework of the International Army Games “Army-2021”, was held.

The annual competition has been held since 2016 in preparation for the International Army Games and for the first time at the Polivno training ground of the Ulyanovsk Separate Guards Airborne Assault Formation. The competitive part of the Competition is held in four stages.

The first stage (individual classification) is held in order to determine the best sniper, in the second stage (doubles) the best sniper pair is determined. During the third stage of the competition (team classification), the most well-coordinated team will be determined, and the teams that took the first to fourth places in the team classification following the results of three stages will enter the final, fourth stage. The fourth stage is carried out in order to determine the fastest and most tagged team of the competition.

“During 12 days of the competition, snipers (sniper pairs) representing the airborne troops from Ivanovo, Ulan-Ude, Ussuriysk, Pskov, Tula, Novorossiysk, Ulyanovsk and the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School named after General of the Army V.F. Margelova (RVVDKU) will have to demonstrate her best professional qualities of a sniper in conditions as close as possible to combat. And each participant, based on the results of the competition, will receive his own individual assessment ”- said the chief judge of the competition, Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Shukhovtsev.

Also at the ceremony held on the territory of the Ulyanovsk Separate Guards Airborne Assault Formation, the commander of the Hero of Russia Guards unit, Colonel Vladimir Seliverstov, as well as veterans of the Airborne Forces, who wished the strongest team a fair fight and victory, were present at the ceremony.

In total, about 100 servicemen, consisting of 8 teams in the “Army Sniper” and “Professional” divisions, representing all formations, military units and institutions of the Airborne Forces, take part in the competition.

The team that won the qualifying stage will represent the “winged infantry” at the All-Army stage of the competition, which will be held in May this year.
