A batch of 300 newest Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifles entered service with the special-purpose regiment of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in the Stavropol Territory. Now this regiment of the Southern Military District is one of the first in the RF Armed Forces to be fully re-equipped with new small arms.

The modified assault rifle has an increased accuracy of fire, a barrel survivability margin, for the production of which a new technology was used, the improvement of the ergonomics of the weapon increased the ease of use.

The mass of the assault rifle is 3.5 kg, the range of a direct shot is 440 m. The rate of fire of the weapon is 650 rounds per minute. The assault rifle allows you to fire in three modes: bursts, two-shot cut-off and single shots.

Also on the AK-12, for the first time, Picatinny rails were installed for attaching auxiliary equipment. A new magazine has been developed for the assault rifle, which can be used as an emphasis for shooting, identification windows have appeared.

The 5.45 mm Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle was developed by the Kalashnikov concern as part of the Ratnik program as an element of a promising complex of equipment for the military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and was put into service at the end of 2018.

AK-12 is positioned as a new platform, on the basis of which weapons of various calibers and purposes, both military and civilian, will be developed.
