Classes will begin on April 19. Participants will be trained to work with children with disabilities.

In the center “My Career” is opening a recruitment for a new stream in the school for training nannies “Grandmother and Grandpa for an Hour”. In the classroom, they teach basic skills and features of childcare, as well as work with children with disabilities. Employment service specialists note that over the past three years, the number of requests for qualified nannies working with special children has noticeably increased in Moscow.

“Parents today attach great importance to creating a positive microclimate in the family. And this is possible only when mom and dad are in a resourceful state. A nanny’s help is especially needed with children who need constant attention. It is important that in Moscow today there are more literate and qualified specialists who are ready to work in families with a variety of situations, ”said Irina Shvets, director of the My Career Center.

The new course starts on April 19th. Classes are organized by the service “Grandma for an hour”with the support of the Moscow Government grant “Moscow is a good city” and the capital Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population… The school will teach how to work with visually impaired and hearing impaired children, with children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, with children with cerebral palsy and Down syndrome. Special attention is paid to nursing procedures, self-care and development skills training.

“Two factors are important for the success of the training. The nannies need to be taught modern working methods and to remove stereotypes about children with disabilities. By helping such special children, we help create an inclusive society in which every child can adapt and find their own way. Some of the graduates will go on to gain knowledge in narrower areas, and those who cannot work with special children will know how to respond correctly to the questions of their children in charge of why that boy or girl is different from them, ”- said Natalie Linkova, founder and head of the “Babushka for an Hour” recruiting service for domestic personnel.

The course of study includes lectures, practical exercises, group work, homework assignments, and an internship in the children’s playroom at the My Career Center. Students will learn how to keep children safe at home, in public places and in crowded places, receive information about childhood crises and the development of emotional intelligence.

Nanny school is not just about theory. Already adults with disabilities who have built a career, have a prestigious job and have their own families are invited to practical classes. In conversations with them, students learn firsthand how a person with disabilities sees the world, what problems they face.

As a result of the training, successful students will receive a basic set of knowledge and skills for working with special children. Today, such families employ 15 percent of the nannies who have been trained in school.

All knowledge and skills acquired within the course will be useful to graduates in their further work with children. Based on the results of training and final certification, nannies receive a certificate that increases their competitiveness in the labor market. Trainers and experts of the “My Career” center will conduct self-employment trainings with students, after which everyone will be able to formalize their activities.
