At the Polivno training ground of the Ulyanovsk Separate Guards Airborne Assault Formation, the best airborne snipers have begun the first stage of the Airborne Forces’ field training competition among snipers (sniper pairs) “Sniper Frontier” held as part of the Army International Games “ARMY-2021”.

The first stage “Individual classification” is held in order to determine the best sniper of the competition. The distribution of places among snipers in the individual standings will be carried out according to the smallest amount of places according to the results of the exercises of this stage.

Also, according to the results of the first stage of the competition, the rating of each team will be determined, equal to the sum of the places of all the team’s snipers for the exercises of the first stage.

For two days, the best snipers of the Airborne Forces compete in the exercises “Qualification”, “Shooting for offset”, “Shooting from awkward positions”, “Declare yourself”, “Sniper on the offensive”, “Sniper on defense at night”, “Pyramid “.

The day before the best participant was determined in the exercise “Shooting for test”. In accordance with the conditions of the exercise, the participants had to hit targets with a Dragunov sniper rifle located at ranges from 300 to 500 meters. At the command of the referee, the sniper prepared to fire and at the command “Fire” (timer signal) fired ten scoring shots. The shooter’s result was the sum of the points scored for hitting the target’s dimensions.

The winner will be announced based on the results of all exercises in the first stage.

The annual field training competition among snipers (sniper pairs) in the Airborne Forces has been held since 2016, in preparation for the participation of the Airborne Forces team in the all-army stage of the competition.

In total, about 100 servicemen, consisting of 8 teams in the “Army Sniper” and “Professional” divisions, representing all formations, military units and institutions of the Airborne Forces, take part in the competition.

The team that won the qualifying stage will represent the “winged infantry” at the All-Army stage of the competition, which will be held in May this year.
