Military engineers defended the village of Burunduki, which is home to about 600 people, from floods in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Before the explosions of ice on the river, the servicemen of the Kazan Higher Tank Command School conducted an engineering reconnaissance of the area, measured the thickness of the ice, studied the winding channel of the Berlya River, which runs along the entire settlement, and carried out blasting operations.

The decision to carry out the work was made by the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, at the request of the local authorities.

In the Central Military District, more than 30 subversive teams from the engineer-sapper units have been trained to deal with floods. All teams are manned by contract servicemen and equipped with modern models of special weapons for the engineering troops.
