Aviation support for the actions of motorized rifle units of the Russian military base of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in Abkhazia will be provided by Ka-52 Alligator reconnaissance and attack helicopters during planned tactical exercises.
The helicopter units of the army aviation of the air force and air defense formation of the district will defeat the conditional enemy on the front line along the coastline of the Black Sea, and will also provide cover for disparate units in a training battle.
During the control check of troops for the winter period, the use of interspecific units of the Russian military base of the Southern Military District in Abakhazia and the armed forces of the Transcaucasian republic will be worked out.
Scheduled exercises are planned to be held this month at the Gudauta, Tsabal and Nagualou training grounds in mountainous and wooded areas and the sea coast.
In total, it is planned to involve about 1.5 thousand servicemen of the Southern Military District in the exercises as part of the control check, to use over 500 units of military and special equipment, including modern T-72B3 tanks and armored personnel carriers BTR-82AM.
The control check of the troops of the Southern Military District during the winter period of training is carried out under the guidance of the Commander of the Southern Military District, Army General Alexander Dvornikov. It involves the troops of all associations of the district, including the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla. The commissions of higher military command and control bodies are also checking the manning and supply of troops, their ability to fulfill the standards established by the requirements of combat and operational training.
The control check of the Southern Military District troops for the winter training period is carried out according to the approved troop training plan for 2021.
