In the village of Tashara, Novosibirsk region, the ranks of the Youth Army were joined by three dozen boys and girls. The ceremony was held in the presence of guests of honor, among whom was Acting Deputy Commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army, Colonel Oleg Korotkevich, President of the Anti-Terror Fund of Veterans of Special Forces and FSB of Russia Vladimir Shuyev. The recruits were given not only badges and berets, but also a certificate of assigning the detachment the name of Major General Yuri Yevtushenko. Moreover, the children themselves asked about the desire to become “Yevtushenkovites”, because it was in their school that the legendary compatriot studied, explained Major General Vladimir Popkov, Chief of Staff of the Youth Army in the Novosibirsk Region.

“Yuri Grigorievich was born in Novosibirsk, but then moved with his parents to the village of Tashara, where he studied at a local school for eight years. We dedicate today’s event to everyone who loves, honors and defends the Fatherland. This is exactly what Yevtushenko was, ”said Major General Vladimir Popkov.

By the way, this is the second detachment named after Yuri Grigorievich in the region. Earlier this honor was given to the youth soldiers of the Novosibirsk school number 102. And in Russia there are already four detachments of “Yevtushenkovites”.

“I am proud that my husband’s name will live … It is especially pleasant that he will live in his native places, where he grew up and studied, and then entered the Suvorov school. Since childhood, my husband dreamed of becoming a military man. He worked his way up from lieutenant to major general. Yuri Grigorievich was an honest and not indifferent person. He always participated in the lives of other people, helped everyone around. I am sure that these guys will continue his work, ”said Valentina Yevtushenko, the wife of the deputy commander of the Western Military District for military-political work.

In response, the Yunarmeys gave their word to glorify the name of a patriot and a brave warrior with their deeds and actions. And they have already taken the first step – they designed a corner within the walls of the school in memory of their legendary compatriot. This makeshift mini-museum features a biography of Yuri Yevtushenko and photographs from his personal archive.

“A very symbolic ceremony was organized in Tashara. Boys and girls became part of the large Yunarmey family. Families where elders are respected, heroes are honored and the history of the Fatherland is known. I have no doubt that the youth army detachment of the Tashari school will become an example for their peers, ”said Nikita Nagorny, head of the General Staff of the Youth Army, three-time world champion, six-time European champion, Olympic silver medalist.

As a reminder, Yuri Yevtushenko is Major General, Deputy Commander of the Western Military District for military-political work. Was born in Novosibirsk in 1964. In January 2018, he headed the Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria. Yuri Yevtushenko passed away on November 9, 2020 due to coronavirus infection.
