With the crews of a heterogeneous grouping of ships of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL), a tactical exercise with an exit to the sea started. The personnel of the small missile ships Grad Sviyazhsk and Uglich, small artillery ships (IAC) Astrakhan and Volgodonsk, artillery boats and KFl raid minesweepers are involved in combat training activities at sea ranges.

Currently, the crews of the Astrakhan and Volgodonsk spacecraft are undergoing a number of naval exercises of various directions – the ship’s combat operations against surface and ground targets of the enemy, the use of anti-mine weapons, reconnaissance search and destruction of mines, air defense, as well as the organization and conducting anti-underwater sabotage defense of the ship when parked in an unprotected roadstead.

In addition to combat exercises, the crews of the IAC practice actions in the fight for survivability and control of a damaged ship, rendering assistance to a conditionally in distress ship using rescue devices and means. In the course of working out the elements of joint navigation and combat maneuvering, ship commanders improve skills in building a battle formation, such as: wake formation, bearing formation, ledge formation, front formation.

The next stage of the naval exercises of the CFL’s naval forces will be joint exercises of naval groups with the air groups of the 4th Army of the Air Force and the Air Defense of the Southern Military District.

In total, more than 20 surface ships, boats and support vessels for the flotilla will be involved in the naval exercises. Caspian sailors will perform more than 50 different combat exercises with shooting at sea, coastal and air targets.
