High school student Nurislam Vafin was awarded the medal of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia “For the rescue of those killed on the waters”. The award ceremony took place today at Moscow School # 1329.
The award for his courage, courage and dedication to the young hero was presented by Adviser to the Minister of Emergencies of Russia Andrei Merzlikin and First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia for the Moscow Region Vadim Andyamov.
“I want to bow deeply to a person with a capital letter from the entire ministry. We are a generation that is slowly beginning to hand over our affairs to you young people. I believe that we are putting them in good hands, ”said Andrei Merzlikin, Advisor to the Minister of Emergency Situations of Russia.
Vadim Andyamov, First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia for the Moscow Region, in turn thanked Nurislam’s parents who raised the hero.
“The human qualities that Nurislam possesses are laid down at home. Low bow to you for raising a man. We are waiting for such people in our ranks, ”said Vadim Andyamov.
Nurislam Vafin is 16 years old. He committed a heroic deed when he was only 14. In June 2019, Nurislam and a friend rode boards for swimming on a lake near the village of Khorosino, Moscow Region.
At some point, a 9-year-old friend, unable to resist on the board, fell into the water, got confused and began to sink. Nurislam jumped after him. He went in for swimming, so he kept well on the water. Seeing what was happening, a security officer rushed to help the guys.
Thanks to the efforts of Nurislam, the boy was on the water until the moment when the guard accepted him, then he pulled him ashore.
Then the unexpected happened – Nurislam himself went under water. They searched for the young man for more than 6 minutes, and when they brought him ashore, he showed no signs of life. For about half an hour, doctors performed resuscitation before cardiac activity was restored and breathing appeared.
Over the past two years, the efforts of parents and many specialists have been aimed at the rehabilitation of Nurislam. The young man masters the school curriculum according to an individual schedule, is actively involved in sports, including swimming. Rehabilitation is yielding positive results.
“I would like to thank those who happened to be next to our son then. Thanks to their skills and professionalism, Nurislam is alive and today receives his award, ”said the father of the young man, Adel Vafin.
The staff of the rescue department wished the young man a speedy recovery and further striving forward.
