On April 12, in the format of a videoconference, consultations between Russia and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAK) were held at the level of political directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Russian side was represented by the Special Representative of the Minister for Relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, Director of the Latin American Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry A.V. Shchetinin, from the rotating chairmanship of CELAC – the Director General of the Main Directorate of the Mexican Foreign Ministry for Regional American Organizations and Mechanisms, National Coordinator at CELAC E. Guadarrama.

A thorough exchange of views was held on the main issues of cooperation between Russia and CELAC. Promising areas for further cooperation have been identified, and a list of priority measures has been outlined.

In the course of the consultations, certain aspects of the bilateral Russian-Mexican agenda and some issues of an international and regional nature were also considered in a constructive spirit.

The parties agreed to continue regular contacts in order to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
