In Smolensk, cadets of the Military Academy of Military Air Defense named after Marshal of the Soviet Union A.M. Vasilevsky held another patriotic action “Parade for one veteran.”

The event was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Ivanovich Rusakov, a participant in the Great Patriotic War.

At the house of the veteran, in his honor, the military orchestra of the academy performed musical compositions during the Great Patriotic War. The personnel of the company of the guard of honor of the academy marched in a solemn march.

The festive event was also attended by the leadership of the Smolensk region, pupils of the Smolensk field marshal Kutuzov of the cadet corps and members of the All-Russian children’s and youth military-patriotic public movement “Yunarmiya”.

Fyodor Ivanovich was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War I and II degree, the Red Star. After the end of the war, he served for more than 30 years in the State Security

In March 1943 he was sent to study at the 1st Saratov Tank School. Less than a year later, Junior Lieutenant Fyodor Rusakov, as part of the 3rd Belorussian Front, 215th Tank Regiment, took part in the battles for East Prussia, followed by the 1st Ukrainian Front and the Vistula-Oder operation. Participated in the liberation of Prague in 1945.
