Hydrogen projects, as well as projects in the field of medicine, are a priority within the framework of cooperation between the Russian Federation and South Korea. This was stated by the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Alexei Chekunkov, during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation, Lee Sok Bae.

Chekunkov noted that hydrogen projects involve the creation and development of hydrogen export supply chains to the markets of neighboring ATP countries.
“As for medicine, we are interested in attracting networks of medical clinics to the Far East under the management of international medical operators. We also invite Korean investors to take part in public-private partnership projects aimed at creating infrastructure within the framework of the Far Eastern Concession mechanism,” the press cites -Service word of the minister.
The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East also said that one of the potential new areas of Russian-Korean cooperation is joint projects in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, which has become the largest preferential regime in the world with a total area of 5 million square kilometers. According to Alexei Chekunkov, the Arctic provides great investment opportunities in the field of mining, infrastructure, transport and tourism.
As part of the meeting, Lee Sok Bae, the press service of the ministry added, confirmed the interest of Korean investors in the implementation of projects both in the Far East and in the Arctic. He noted that the indicators for 2020 do not reflect real opportunities for intensive development of trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation with Russia in these regions. According to the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, in 2020 the volume of foreign trade of the Far Eastern Federal District with Korea amounted to 7.7 billion US dollars, having decreased by more than 23% (exports amounted to 7.1 billion US dollars, imports – 0.6 billion US dollars). At the same time, about 40% of the trade turnover is traditionally provided by the Far Eastern Federal District.
