On April 13, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia hosted a meeting of the co-chairs of the Russian-Serbian Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture – Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergei Levin and State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Resources of the Republic of Serbia Bogdan Igic. The parties discussed the expansion of trade in agricultural products, as well as plans to organize joint events in 2021.

Last year, the turnover of agricultural products and food between the countries increased by 7% to $ 516 million. According to Sergei Levin, the main task for the further development of bilateral cooperation is the growth of volumes and diversification of the supplied products. This will be facilitated, among other things, by the export of domestic dairy and livestock products to the Serbian market. In addition, among the promising areas is the supply of Russian confectionery products.

Another topic of the meeting was the organization of a joint business mission in 2021, within the framework of which it is planned to hold negotiations between participants in the agricultural market of the two countries. According to the Deputy Minister, the event will become an effective platform for establishing direct contacts between business representatives of Russia and Serbia, which will expand the volume of mutual trade.
