The purpose of the scientific event was to conduct an expert assessment of the threats to Russia’s national security associated with the falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War and World War II, in the context of the increasing information and psychological pressure that NATO countries exert on the Russian Federation in order to revise the results of World War II and the role of the anti-Hitler coalition states. in the defeat of Nazi Germany and its satellites.
In his opening remarks, Major General Alexander Serzhantov, Deputy Chief of the VAGSh of the RF Armed Forces, Doctor of Military Sciences, Professor, Honored Military Specialist of the Russian Federation spoke about the unprecedented external pressure on Russia. “It would not be an exaggeration to say,” noted Alexander Vladimirovich, “that an information war is being waged against us, part of which is the impact on the historical consciousness of Russians, their historical memory by falsifying history, including by revising the results of World War II and the Great Patriotic War.”
The report “The main directions of falsification of the history of World War II and the Great Patriotic War and counteraction to them in modern conditions” was made by the leading researcher of the Research Institute of VI VAGSh of the RF Armed Forces, Candidate of Military Sciences, Associate Professor Pavel Kazarin.
The speeches of a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Philosophy, Full Member of the Academy of Military Sciences Alexander Kanshin (“On the role of“ people’s diplomacy ”in defusing international tension, fighting international terrorism, strengthening friendship between peoples and armies”) were distinguished by their novelty and practicality; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Associations of Reserve Officers of the Armed Forces (MEGAPIR), Candidate of Historical Sciences Vladimir Bogatyrev (“Counteracting attempts to glorify and rehabilitate Nazism, rewriting the true history of World War II is a responsible task of the state and society”); Colonel Andrei Shagov, head of the research department of the Scientific Research Institute of VI VAGSh of the RF Armed Forces, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor (“June 22, 1941: what the historians are talking about …”); Chairman of the Council of the Military Philosophical Society of the National Association of Associations of Reserve Officers of the Armed Forces (MEGAPIR), Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Petr Petriy (“Modern technologies for the deconstruction of the Great Victory: content and opposition”).
The guests and participants of the round table were shown the video “Playing on the cards in January 1941. On the development of the theory of the military art of the Red Army”, prepared by the staff of the Research Institute of VI VAGSh of the RF Armed Forces.
Summing up the results of the scientific event, the deputy chief of the VAGS of the RF Armed Forces for scientific work, Major General Alexander Serzhantov, announced that the goal of the round table had been achieved, as well as the need to continue to work in the future to counter the distortions of Russian military history to the detriment of the interests of the Russian Federation.
