Artists use special paints that not only decorate but also protect Moscow trees.
Mospriroda launches the summer-autumn season of the annual nature conservation action “ParkArt”. Volunteers will paint the treated and treated trees.
Thanks to ParkArt, Muscovites will see foxes, mice, squirrels, Snusmumrik, the Cheshire Cat and other fairy-tale characters on the trees.
The artists will start work in a dry and warm season, so that weather conditions do not interfere. Volunteers will use only acrylic paints – they create an additional protective layer, and are also safe for the tree and do not penetrate into its structure.
More than 10 natural areas participate in the action – these are Kosinsky, Izmailovsky, Terletsky, Kuskovsky forest parks, natural and historical parks “Kuzminki-Lyublino”, “Tsaritsyno”, “Moskvoretsky”, “Tushinsky”, complex nature reserve “Altufevsky”, landscape reserve “Lianozovsky “, The nature reserve” Medvedkovsky “and a monument of landscape art – the estate Arkhangelskoye-Tyurikovo. In 2021, the Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo Natural and Historical Park joined the campaign.
Any artist can take part in the event. To do this, you need to send a letter with your data and examples of work by e-mail: email@example.com, indicating the subject of the letter “Application for participation in the action” ParkArt “”. Phone for inquiries: +7 (499) 367-89-18.
Beauty and benefits for nature
Artists paint only on those green spaces where frost cracks, hollows, wounds or bare sections of the trunk have formed. Paintings made with acrylic paints prolong the life of a weakened, damaged tree. They prevent moisture, fungi, bacteria and pests from entering the wound, therefore they prevent the tree from rotting and further deteriorating.
The appearance of a new picture on a tree is preceded by serious preparatory work. Mospriroda specialists annually inspect the territories under their jurisdiction, identify trees that need treatment, and carry out sanitary and recreational activities. Artists start painting only after special treatment of cracks.
Over the six years of the action’s existence, about 200 drawings have appeared on the trees of Moscow – landscapes, images of animals, elves, birds and reproductions of works by Vincent Van Gogh, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Rene Magritte, Gustav Klimt.
