In the course of bilateral tactical exercises with servicemen of the combined arms army of the Western Military District and motorized riflemen of the Pechenga brigade of the Northern Fleet, modified multipurpose armored tractors MTLB with an installed anti-aircraft installation ZU-23 were used as part of one of the stages.

The created modification makes it possible to significantly expand the possibilities for the use of military equipment in the performance of combat and training-combat missions, to increase the mobility in the movement of means of combat against air targets.
As part of one of the stages of the exercise, the ZU-3 was used to combat low-flying targets imitating airplanes, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles of a conventional enemy.

The ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun is a 23-mm twin anti-aircraft gun, consisting of two aircraft cannons, a machine tool, a ZAP-23 sight, which has a rate of fire of about 2000 rounds per minute, which makes it possible to effectively destroy enemy infantry, aircraft and lightly armored vehicles.
