On the eve of the celebration of the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, members of the search teams of the Leningrad Region will donate to the museums of the combined arms army of the Western Military District (ZVO) more than 10 different artifacts found during the Memory Watch 2020.

The search engines will transfer to the permanent exhibition elements of small arms and household items found in the battlefields on the Nevsky Pyatachka, Sinyavinsky and Pulkovsky heights, the village of Krasny Bor and other settlements of the region.

Artifacts prepared for transfer include: shell casings and cartridges from DP-27 light machine guns, fragments of anti-personnel grenades, bodies of Mosin and SVT-40 rifles, parts of Soviet SSh-40 helmets, PPSh submachine guns and other samples of domestic weapons, as well as rare homemade items made by soldiers during the war: wooden spoons, bowlers and knives with inscriptions calling for the fight against the Nazi invaders.

Thanks to the joint work of the sappers of the combined-arms formation and representatives of the search detachments, during the “Watch of Memory – 2020”, more than 20 joint expeditions were carried out at the battle sites, about 50 brotherly graves and memorials in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region were landscaped.
