More than 10 planes and helicopters are involved in a large-scale joint exercise of units of 201 military bases and the armed forces of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The joint aviation group, which is based on the link of the Russian Su-25SM attack aircraft, the Mi-24 and Mi-8 attack and transport-combatants, will provide air support for the units at the training stages. From the armed forces of Tajikistan, two L-39 aircraft are involved, two Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters.

At the Harb-Maidon and Momirak training grounds, the crews will provide air support to the joint group of forces. In the course of practical actions, the Su-25 SM unit will perform tasks to search for camouflaged bases of a simulated enemy, deliver missile and bomb strikes at targets, and also work out techniques for getting out of attacks from portable anti-aircraft missile systems of the enemy. The crews of the attack Mi-24 and transport-combat Mi-8 will practice convoy escort and tactical landing.

From the Russian side, about 2.5 thousand servicemen of the 201st military base will be involved in the exercise, up to 400 units of military and special equipment will be involved, including Su-25 SM attack aircraft, Mi-24 attack helicopters, military transport Mi- 8, T-72 tanks, modernized BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, Grad, Uragan multiple launch rocket systems, Gvozdika and Akatsia artillery mounts. Target reconnaissance and fire adjustment will be provided by a grouping of unmanned aerial vehicles “Orlan-10”, “Granat”, “Leer”.
