Crews of the Su-25SM3 aviation unit of the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District (YuVO), based in the Stavropol Territory, flew to the operational airfields of the Crimea. In turn, the Su-25SM3 squadron of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Southern Military District was relocated from a military airfield in Crimea to the Ashuluk training ground in the Astrakhan region as part of a control check during the winter training period.
In total, more than 50 aircraft of the operational-tactical aviation of the Air Force and Air Defense Association and the naval aviation of the Black Sea Fleet are involved in combat training activities.
During planned tactical flight exercises, the crews of the Su-27SM, Su-30SM fighters and the Su-24M, Su-25SM3 and Su-34 bombers will have to carry out rocket launches and bombing at sea targets, the flight crew must confirm the ability to perform flights in adverse weather conditions, and also flights at extremely low altitudes above the water surface.
In addition, the pilots of the two formations carry out the tasks of escorting naval strike groups and acting as part of reconnaissance strike complexes while ensuring security in the Black Sea.
The control check of the Southern Military District troops for the winter period is carried out according to the approved training plan for 2021. It involves the troops of all formations of the district, including the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla. The commissions of the higher military command and control bodies will also check the manning and supply of troops, their ability to fulfill the standards established by the requirements of combat and operational training.
The control check of the troops of the Southern Military District is aimed at increasing the level of combat and operational training of troops and forces of the military district, improving the forms and methods of conducting exercises, exercises and training, taking into account the evolving situation within the boundaries of responsibility.
