In Primorsk, the ashes of the commander of the rifle squad of the 11th Guards Army, Kirion Bibikov, who died in April 1945 during the storming of the fortress city of Pillau, was reburied.

The event, which took place at the memorial complex of the mass grave of Soviet soldiers, was attended by the granddaughter of the Red Army soldier Natalya Sadovaya (Bibikova), representatives of the command of the Baltic Naval Base (VMB) and military sailors. At the commemorative ceremony, the grandfather’s medal “For Military Merit” was handed over to the fighter’s granddaughter.

The search engines of the Avanport-Poisk group found the award among the remains of Soviet soldiers, it was by its number that the name of the soldier was established. After that, it was decided to find the relatives of Kirion Bibikov.

April 25 marks the 76th anniversary of the end of the assault by Soviet troops on Pillau (now Baltiysk). Taking the penultimate stronghold of the Nazi troops, the Red Army completed the East Prussian offensive.
